Become a GROWL Volunteer
GROWL is always in need of volunteers.  There are many volunteer
positions which need to be filled.  Please let us know if you are
interested in becoming a GROWL volunteer!

GROWL is different than most rescues because we involve ourselves
in every aspect of rescue. Many shelters or rescuers contact us when
urgent pets are in need.  Urgent pets would be considered a pet
whose time is running out in a shelter and the pet is about to be
euthanized.  GROWL volunteers locate and contact other rescues who
will accept the urgent pet or pets and remove them from the shelter
before they are euthanized.

In order to get the pet to the rescue, GROWL volunteers coordinate
transports all over the United States. The coordinators divide the route
the pets need to take into hour long "legs".  The coordinators then
contact other volunteers where the route is traveling to find volunteer
drivers for each leg.  Once volunteers are in place for each leg, the
pets leave the shelter and head to the rescue or their forever home.

GROWL also will assist  rescues or shelters in planning and
overseeing fundraisers or adoption days.  During the adoption days,
the public can come meet the pets in need to find their perfect next
furry family member.

GROWL also does their own fundraising for pets with medical
problems.  Many pets are dropped off at local shelters when their
"owners" learn that their pet is ill. Other pets come in to the shelters
and it is not known they are sick until further testing is done. GROWL
raises funds to treat these animals so they can have the chance they
deserve to have a long, healthy life with a family that loves them.

GROWL also removes urgent pets from shelters and places them in
either a foster home or adopts them out to their forever home.  When a
pet is removed from the shelter it saves the life of that pet and also
opens up a space for another shelter pet.  When GROWL removes an
injured or sick pet from the shelter and places it in foster, that pet is
treated and remains in the foster home until treatment is finished and
that pet can find their forever family.

None of this is possible without volunteers.  If you are interested in
helping animals in need, please look at our volunteer positions and let
us know which you would be interested in filling.
